Sell on Etsy, Faire, and eBay without losing track of stock or cash
Marketplaces send you orders, fees, refunds, and payouts in formats that never quite match your inventory system. Fiskal connects Etsy, Faire, and eBay to Cin7 and builds the rules that keep orders, stock, and accounting in step after go live.

02 // What goes wrong
Marketplace orders arrive fast. The problems arrive later.
The connection says “active.” Orders are flowing. Then a month end close shows a deposit that matches nothing, a listing that sold stock you did not have, and a handful of orders that never reached Cin7 at all. None of it announces itself. It surfaces in the numbers.
Overselling
A listing shows 12 units. Your warehouse has four. Stock levels only protect you when the sync rules, buffer logic, and location settings are set on purpose.
The fix: Stock sync and buffer rules
Orders that never arrive
Cin7 skips a marketplace sale when it contains a product that is not mapped. Faire sales also get skipped when a SKU is missing or duplicated. Nobody gets a phone call about it.
The fix: Product mapping and SKU governance
Tax mapping gaps
Orders are skipped on download until tax mapping is finished. Each marketplace passes tax information differently, and Faire passes almost none.
The fix: Tax rule mapping
Payouts that match nothing
A marketplace pays you net of fees, refunds, and adjustments. Your invoices are gross. The deposit in the bank is a number nobody can trace.
The fix: Payout reconciliation
Refunds and cancellations that stop at the border
Faire refunds do not reach Cin7. Etsy cancellations do not sync. A refund on an unfulfilled sale can leave restock errors in the log. Each one needs a defined process.
The fix: Returns and refunds workflow
03 // The flow
One flow for every marketplace, with different rules at each edge
Etsy, Faire, and eBay all connect to Cin7 Core as native integrations. The pattern is the same. The details are not, and the details are where the work is.
Orders in
Marketplace orders land in Cin7 as pending orders with stock allocated, then become sales orders individually or in one daily consolidated order. eBay orders import every 15 minutes. Etsy and Faire orders import hourly.
Stock out
When available quantity changes in Cin7, the new level is pushed back to the marketplace. Each store can be tied to a dedicated Cin7 location, because none of the three marketplaces handle multiple warehouses.
Shipments back
Tracking and carrier details return to the marketplace so the customer sees the update. The rules differ by channel, and they break when the wrong processing mode is selected.
Money reconciled
Fees, refunds, and payouts get matched to the ledger in QuickBooks Online or Xero, so the deposit in your bank traces to the orders behind it.
04 // Etsy
Etsy and Cin7: handmade volume, one listing ID at a time
Etsy sellers carry a lot of variation. Etsy does not carry a SKU field. That single gap shapes the whole integration.
What Cin7 does with Etsy
Cin7 pulls in Etsy products, orders, and customer details, then updates stock levels back to Etsy as quantities change. Several Etsy stores can connect to one Cin7 account, each with its own catalog, logs, and settings. Cin7 can also publish products to Etsy through publishing profiles.
What Fiskal configures
Order capture timing (created, paid, or shipped), consolidation approach, price tier for Etsy listings, product mapping method, auto pick, pack, and ship rules, invoice status, revenue account, and payment account mapping. We also set the cancellation and refund process so nothing depends on someone remembering to void an order.
- Etsy has no SKU field, so Cin7 uses the Etsy listing ID as the SKU unless you map products yourself
- Etsy variations come into Cin7 as simple products, with the chosen option recorded in the order comment field
- Only the top level Etsy category links to a Cin7 category
- Each Etsy store can use one Cin7 location, so the location decision matters
- US Etsy stores use the sales tax Etsy provides, and orders are skipped until tax mapping is complete
- Shipment details return to Etsy only when orders are processed one by one, not as a daily consolidated order
- Etsy cancellations do not sync, so those sales orders need to be voided in Cin7 by hand
- A refund on an unfulfilled sale can trigger a restock error unless the right setting is on
Accounting note: Etsy payouts arrive net of fees. We pair Cin7 with A2X, which posts summarized Etsy settlements to QuickBooks Online or Xero.
05 // Faire
Faire and Cin7: wholesale orders with their own rules
Faire is wholesale. Retailers pay Faire on terms, Faire pays you, and the payment never passes through the integration. That changes how the books need to be built.
What Cin7 does with Faire
Cin7 exchanges inventory data with Faire in both directions, but orders only flow one way: from Faire into Cin7. Any number of Faire brand accounts can connect to one Cin7 organization. You can list, update, unlist, and unlink products from Cin7 in bulk, and set a stock buffer for the whole channel or for individual products. Cin7’s Faire integration is for brands, not retailers, and is available in the United States.
What Fiskal configures
Order capture timing, wholesale and retail price tiers, buffer inventory rules, location link, carrier mapping, tax treatment, and the product structure that keeps variants clean. We also build the manual returns process, because Faire will not hand you one.
- Faire does not expose payment information, so Cin7 creates an estimated payment from the order. Discounts and promotions can make it wrong, and someone has to check it
- Returns and refunds on Faire are not captured, so restocks and credits are entered manually
- Faire does not pass tax information through, so the tax exempt mapping is set deliberately
- Only one shipment exports from Cin7 to Faire, and only when Faire has none
- Faire accepts a short list of carriers, and shipment details do not sync until each one is mapped
- Products with a missing or duplicated SKU are skipped on download
- Option names must match in order between Faire and Cin7, or a size option and a color option merge into one set of values
- Faire does not sell items priced above $1,000
- Wholesale and retail price tiers are separate settings, so mapping them wrong prices the catalog wrong
Accounting note: A Faire payout equals the order subtotal plus any shipping reimbursement, less commission and a payment processing fee. You choose payout timing: next day, 30 days, or 60 days after shipment, with fees that depend on the speed. We build clearing accounts so each payout traces back to its orders.
06 // eBay
eBay and Cin7: fixed price listings, fast order flow
eBay is the quickest of the three to sync and the strictest about listing data. Clean SKUs make it work. Missing ones make it quietly fail.
What Cin7 does with eBay
Cin7 downloads eBay products, orders, customer contacts, and payments, and uploads quantities to eBay as stock changes. It checks for new orders every 15 minutes, allocates stock immediately, and handles cancellations automatically: it removes the pending order, voids the sale, or creates a credit note and refund when refund data exists. Returns and refunds are supported. Several eBay stores can connect to one Cin7 account, and Cin7 can publish products to eBay using a publishing profile for each category.
What Fiskal configures
Consolidation and capture settings, price tier, location, tax handling (including whether eBay taxes sync), payment account mapping, publishing profiles, product matching rules, and the SKU cleanup that has to happen before anything connects.
- Cin7 supports fixed price listings only, so auctions are out
- Listings and every variation need a SKU (eBay calls it a Custom Label in some stores)
- Listings should be set to Good Till Canceled, with the out of stock option selected, so stock updates land
- Each eBay category has its own required fields (UPC, condition, and others), which means a publishing profile per category
- US listings for children’s products or apparel need a Compliance Document ID issued by eBay
- Another eBay inventory or relisting tool running alongside Cin7 causes duplication errors
- Each eBay store links to one Cin7 location
- The product launch year setting speeds up product downloads, because Cin7 otherwise searches up to 3,000 days back
Accounting note: eBay Managed Payments payouts are net of fees and refunds. We pair Cin7 with A2X to post those settlements to QuickBooks Online or Xero.
07 // Finance
The books need to know what the marketplace took
Cin7 records the sale. The marketplace deposits something different. The gap is fees, refunds, adjustments, and timing, and it lands in your ledger whether anyone planned for it or not.
Fiskal builds the layer between the two. That means fee and clearing accounts, a payout reconciliation rhythm, accurate cost of goods sold against marketplace revenue, and a month end close that does not start with a hunt for a missing deposit.
For Etsy and eBay, we pair Cin7 with A2X, which posts summarized settlements to QuickBooks Online or Xero and reconciles them to the payout. See how we set up A2X. For Faire, the payout logic is different, so we design the clearing structure around it.
You see margin by marketplace, not one blended number.

08 // Readiness
What needs to be in place first
- A Cin7 Core subscription with the external integration add-on for each marketplace
- User permissions for each integration inside Cin7
- Clean, unique SKUs across your catalog, with matching SKUs on every marketplace listing
- A Faire brand account with its API key, requested from the Faire onboarding team
- A decision on which Cin7 location feeds which marketplace
- A chart of accounts with somewhere for marketplace fees, refunds, and clearing balances to land
- A QuickBooks Online or Xero file you trust enough to build on
Missing a few of these? That is the normal starting point. It is what the first call is for.
09 // Method
Diagnose first. Connect second.
Diagnose
We review your catalog, SKUs, listings, tax setup, and the current state of each marketplace connection before anything changes.
Map
Products, locations, price tiers, tax rules, carriers, and accounts get mapped once, on paper, before they are mapped in the system.
Build
We configure each integration, set the sync rules, and connect the accounting layer.
Stress test
We push edge cases through: a variation order, a cancellation, a partial refund, a peak day of volume.
Govern
Mapping discipline, SKU rules, sync checks, and a reconciliation rhythm so the setup holds after go live. Systems drift when nobody owns the discipline. We do.
10 // Questions
Frequently asked questions
Does Cin7 integrate with Etsy, Faire, and eBay?
Yes. Cin7 Core has native integrations for all three. Each one requires an external integration add-on on your subscription, and the Faire integration is available in the United States for brands.
How often do marketplace orders sync into Cin7?
eBay orders download every 15 minutes. Etsy and Faire orders download hourly. Stock levels go back to the marketplace when available quantity changes in Cin7, as long as that setting is on.
Can I sell on all three from one Cin7 account?
Yes. You can connect multiple stores, and each one keeps its own catalog, logs, and settings. Each store can also be tied to its own Cin7 location.
Why are marketplace orders missing from Cin7?
The usual causes are unmapped products, unfinished tax mapping, and on Faire, missing or duplicated SKUs. Cin7 skips those orders and records them in the log. A diagnostic review finds every one.
How does Cin7 handle marketplace refunds?
It depends on the channel. eBay returns come through as a credit note with a refund applied. Etsy refunds are captured, and unfulfilled sales need a specific restock setting. Faire returns and refunds are not captured, so they are processed manually.
Can Cin7 reconcile my marketplace payouts?
Partly. For Etsy and eBay, Cin7 can apply payments to invoices once a payment account is mapped, but payouts still arrive net of fees. Faire does not expose payment data at all. Fiskal builds the reconciliation layer for each, and pairs Cin7 with A2X for Etsy and eBay.
Can I list products from Cin7 to the marketplaces?
Yes, through publishing profiles for Etsy and eBay, and from the catalog or bulk operations for Faire. Required fields vary by marketplace and category, and a failed listing needs checking at the marketplace as well.
Our marketplace connection is live but nothing matches. Can you fix it?
Yes. Most of our work starts with a connection that is live and not working. We trace the problem to its source before changing anything.
