Cin7 Amazon IntegrationThat Reconciles to Your Books
Amazon orders reaching Cin7 is the easy half. Settlements, fees, FBA stock, and tax mapping decide whether your numbers agree.
We set up Cin7 and Amazon so they do.
01 // The reality gap
The orders came through. So why does month end not match?
Most Amazon sellers on Cin7 judge the integration with one test. Do the orders show up? They do. So the integration is called fine.
Then the month closes. Amazon says one thing. Cin7 says another. The bank balance is right, but the books are not. Someone posts a manual journal to square it up.
Next month, the same journal.
This is not a glitch. Orders arriving is the easy half of the job. The hard half is everything Amazon does to your money before it reaches your bank.
02 // What is actually happening
Six settings. Each one is small. Each one changes what your books say.
- Timing Gap
The date an order counts.
Cin7 loads Amazon orders either when they are paid or when they are fully shipped. The transaction date follows that choice: the payment date or the ship date. Choose without thinking about month end, and revenue lands in a period your team does not expect.
Orders that never arrive.
Cin7 skips Amazon orders on download if tax mapping is not finished. FBA orders can show a Failed status when no customer is selected on the Amazon setup page. Both are small settings. Both leave you with orders on Amazon that are not in Cin7.
Fees inside the settlement.
Amazon pays you a settlement, not a sales total. Item price, commission fees, and shipping fees all sit in one report. Cin7 can turn that report into manual journals, but only for transaction types mapped to your accounts. When Amazon adds a new fee, the Master User gets a notification. Someone has to act on it.
Not everything in the report is a fee, either. The current reserve amount is Amazon holding back your money. It is meant to be skipped in the mapping. That is a judgment call, not a default.
- Double Entry Trap
The double count.
Cin7 can sync Amazon sales to Xero one by one, or consolidate them as a settlement report. Settlement consolidation takes priority over the Xero consolidation settings. Choose the wrong combination, and the same sale can reach your books twice.
- Inventory State Drift
FBA stock.
FBA stock lives in its own external location in Cin7. Cin7 asks Amazon for an inventory report every hour. An initial stocktake sets the starting quantities. Skip it, or link FBA products on only one of the two integration pages, and the quantities start out wrong.
Product data.
One setting lets Amazon overwrite your product data in Cin7. Cin7’s own documentation warns that turning it on can damage that data.
03 // Operational cause, financial consequence
What happens in the setup shows up in the financials.
- Orders load on ship date instead of payment dateRevenue moves between periods. Cutoff questions appear at close.
- A fee type is mapped to the wrong accountAmazon fees sit where they do not belong. Channel margin reads wrong.
- Reserve amount mapped like a feeA balance Amazon owes you is treated as a cost.
- Bank account currency differs from settlement currencyCin7 does not capture the settlement currency while processing the file, so discrepancies follow.
- Payments mapped to a bank accountCin7 recommends a dedicated accrual account instead. It makes Amazon fees and charges easier to see.
- FBA quantities out of step with AmazonInventory value is off. Reorder decisions use stock that is not there.
04 // Strategic impact
Amazon behaves like a bank, a marketplace, and a warehouse at once.
If Cin7 treats it as an order source only, simple questions go unanswered.
What did Amazon cost us last month?
What is Amazon holding?
How much stock is sitting in FBA, and what is it worth?
Pricing, reorder, and cash decisions all lean on those answers. When the data is off, the decisions carry risk nobody priced in.
Amazon deducts its fees before it pays you. Your books should know that.
05 // What Cin7 does and does not do on Amazon
Know the edges before you build on them.
- Captures Amazon orders as pending sales in Cin7 and allocates stock.
- Updates stock levels from Cin7 to Amazon.
- Treats FBA as an external location, tracked apart from your own warehouse.
- Supports Amazon Multi Channel Fulfillment for orders from other channels, such as Shopify.
- Captures Amazon Business orders the same way as Seller orders.
- Cin7 Core does not list or edit products on Amazon. Your listing tool stays.
- It needs an Amazon Seller Pro account.
- It loads historical orders up to one year back.
- It needs one integration license per Amazon store.
06 // What Fiskal does
Audit. Align. Govern.
Audit
We read your Amazon settings against your chart of accounts. When orders load. How they consolidate. Whether Amazon is the master for product data. How tax rules map. Where payments land. Which settlement transaction types are mapped, skipped, or missing. Then we check FBA quantities against Amazon.
Align
We decide with you what posts where. Settlement or individual sales to Xero. Which account takes each fee. Reserve skipped on purpose. The Amazon payout becomes the number everything ties back to.
Govern
Amazon adds fees. Marketplaces get added. Someone changes a setting. We keep a regular check so drift is caught early, not at year end.
We work in phases: Stabilize, Implement and Integrate, then Ongoing Services. We do not move to the next phase until the data in the current one is sound. On Amazon, that means settlements tie to payouts before we add another marketplace.
07 // Proof
Blazy Susan on Amazon and Cin7.

Blazy Susan

Blazy Susan is a smoking accessories brand that sells on Amazon.
Fiskal started working with the brand in late 2025. First came the Cin7 setup. Then came controller support, which ran into March 2026. Today we handle the monthly bookkeeping.
That means one team sits on both sides of the Amazon data. We configured the system that records the orders. We also keep the books those orders end up in. When a number does not match, nobody has to play translator between two firms.
09 // Questions
Cin7 and Amazon, answered
Does Cin7 support both FBA and FBM?
Yes. Merchant fulfilled orders ship from your own location. FBA is connected as a separate external location in Cin7.
Can Cin7 list my products on Amazon?
No. Cin7 Core does not list items on Amazon. It matches products by SKU, and you can map them manually.
Does Cin7 handle Amazon fees?
It can process the settlement report into manual journals. Each Amazon transaction type must be mapped to an account first.
What if I sell in more than one Amazon marketplace?
Cin7 supports it. If the same product is in several marketplaces with static pricing, each marketplace needs its own price tier. Otherwise Amazon’s price can overwrite the Cin7 price.
Can I use Cin7 for Amazon orders and Shopify orders together?
Yes. Amazon Multi Channel Fulfillment can fulfill orders from other channels, such as Shopify.
